I am directed to refer to your letter No. Nirvachan-98/A.B.-1567, dated 2.2.98 on the subject cited and to state that the Commission has approved that police personnel, Home Guards, S.P.O.s, etc. who are deployed for election related duty may be allowed the facility of packed lunch or cash payment of Rs.50/- in lieu thereof. The expenditure incurred on the above account may be treated as expenditure for the conduct of election.
