Subject :- Simultaneous elections of House of the People and Legislative Assemblies in certain State - Use of common ballot boxes - regarding.

I1. I am directed to invite your attention to the instructions to electors for marking ballot papers at simultaneous elections to the House of the People and the Legislative Assemblies of State as contained in Annexure-XX-B of the Handbook for Returning Officers and Para 6 of Chapter V of Handbook for Presiding Officer (both 1994 edition) which provide that, at simultaneous elections, both the ballot papers for parliamentary and Assembly elections will be dropped by the electors in the same common ballot box. It is thus apparent that a common ballot box will be used for receiving the ballot papers both for parliamentary and Assembly elections wherever such elections are held simultaneously at the coming general elections.

2. This may be brought to the notice of all concerned immediately.
